Gold Award Tourism Apps for the Johor Tourism Interchange (JTI) Application by Malaysian Tourism Industry

YBhg. Tuan Haji Suhairi Bin Haji Hashim received the award as Director of Johor Tourism tonight (22 October 2022) which was presented by YBhg. Tan Sri Dr. Ong Hong Peng, Chairman of Tourism Malaysia in conjunction with the 6th Malaysia Tourism Council Gold Awards Ceremony, 2022 which took place at the Borneo Convention Centre, Kuching, Sarawak. Congratulations and thanks to YAB Datuk Onn Hafiz Bin Ghazi Onn Hafiz, Johor Menteri Besar for all the help and support to the Johor tourism industry and also thank you to YB Raven Kumar Krishnasamy Raven Kumar Krishnasamy, Chairman of the Johor State Tourism, Environment, Heritage & Culture Committee for all his proactive efforts to develop Johor’s tourism industry.

Launching Ceremony of Johor Tourism Interchange Phase II - "Market Place" in Conjunction with the "Majestic Johor Social Media Contest"

This 3-month campaign aims to position Johor tourism as a destination of choice with a target of 100,000 people participating. Yang Berhormat Tuan Raven Kumar a/l Krishnasamy, Chairman of the Johor State Tourism, Environment, Heritage and Culture Committee, has officially launched the Johor Tourism Interchange Phase 2- Market Place in conjunction with a national level social media competition aimed at promoting the Johor tourism industry.

JTI Phase 2 has been launched with a new consumption component that provides a more user-friendly browsing experience, along with free travel vouchers for the public to redeem. Phase 2 – This Market Place will be a digital app for domestic tourists as well as international tourists who wish to visit Johor.

Welcome to Johor Tourism Expo and Johor-Batam Promotion

The opening ceremony of the Welcome To Johor Tourism Expo and Johor-Batam Promotion was held in Nagoya Hill, Batam last Friday. Through the program, the State of Johor aims to be able to bring in about Two Million Indonesian tourists to Johor through health tourism this year.

Development of health tourism which is the choice of the citizens of this republic, especially the people of Batam because the facilities and quality facilities at affordable prices have attracted them to Malaysia.Hopefully through this program can further increase the health tourism market in the state of Johor as Indonesia is the second largest market after Singapore which contributes to the influx of tourists to obtain health services provided in more than 20 hospitals including public and private in Johor.

Johor Tourism Interchange & Strategic Partnership

A memorandum of understanding signing ceremony between The Commune and Johor Tourism Interchange (JTI) represented by Encik Mohd Fairuz Iskandar as the Chief Executive Officer took place yesterday. The Commune, which is the newest shopping mall with an area of 200,000 square feet and with the concept of ‘Lifestyle Playground’, will open in the 4th quarter of 2023.It is hoped that with the cooperation that has been implemented as a digital partner, will further boost the economy and attract more visitors to visit the state of Johor as well as give a positive impact in the country’s tourism sector.

Through the development of digital marketing platforms, Johor Tourism Interchange (JTI) continues to revitalize Johor’s tourism industry. To further strengthen the partnership, another Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed between JTI and Pinetree Marina Resort, Fraser Place Puteri Harbor, and Hard Rock Cafe Puteri Harbor. This partnership enables the tourism industry players involved to create communication channels to strengthen the exchange of information, scientific and technical cooperation through the digital platform provided by JTI.

In an effort to make Johor Tourism Interchange (JTI) an international digital platform, another Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed between JTI and Indonesia Tourism Association, which is Komunitas Pencinta Wisata Muslim (KPWM), Asosiasi Pelaku Pariwisata Indonesia (ASPPI) and Persatuan Pariwisata Halal Indonesia (PPHI) that held at Central Park Mall, Jakarta, Indonesia.

Deputy Minister Of Tourism, Arts & Culture Malaysia

On 26 Jan 2022, the JTI had a meeting with Datuk Seri Dr. Santhara Kumar, Deputy Minister of Tourism, Arts & Culture Malaysia is at the Deputy Minister’s office. JTI was able to attract the attention of Datuk Seri Dr. Santhara Kumar and he gave positive comments on JTI.

Increased Total Air Time Marketing Tourism Products

Various episodes of virtual tours and radio marketing at various tourist attraction locations were shared on various platforms to attract tourists to Johor. Nearly 1,000 tourism products have been promoted on Tourism Johor’s official website, in a series of webinars, social media and also on Johor FM.

Marketing And Market Penetration

On 4 to 6 October 2021, the JTI platform was officially launched by the YAB Menteri Besar of Johor and during the 3 days of the launch event, various events were organized to promote JTI. Overall, the event has managed to record market penetration* as follows:

Access to the Number Of Users That Continues To Increase

Since JTI was launched, its usage volume has continued to increase. The following is a report on the percentage of total users of the platform:

It can be observed that the increasing number of users of the platform increased in December 2021 as people took the opportunity to vacation at the end of the year and take advantage of the functions as well as offers provided by JTI.

From the table, it can also be observed a sharp increase in the use of the JTI platform in October 2021. This increase was driven by the opening ceremony by the YAB Menteri Besar of Johor as well as the massive promotion conducted by Tourism Johor.

Number of Entrepreneurs Who Have Been Assisted

The number of tourism sector entrepreneurs who sign up for the JTI platform is constantly increasing. The following is the sub-sector breakdown report from 15 September 2021 to 20 April 2022.

This means, JTI has benefited over 1,000 entrepreneurs in promoting their tourism products.

Encouraging Return on Investment

Tourism Johor’s initiative in offering tourism vouchers in the past series has proven to provide a boost in reviving tourism operators in the state of Johor.

Investment from Tourism Johor has helped tour operators earn an average of RM220 for every RM100 spent by Tourism Johor.
